SPORTS INJURY REHAB at Taylor & Thornburg Physical Therapy in Oakland, CA

Name your game and we are here to help you! We work with athletes of all ages, from high school cross-country runners to mature pickleball players and everything in between.

Sports physical therapy focuses on prevention, evaluation, treatment, injury recovery, and performance enhancement for active individuals.

We help active individuals return to sports after an injury or surgery and provide exercises and education to help them prevent future injuries and reduce the risk of reinjury. This may include recommendations about equipment modification or bracing and taping as part of the return to activity process. We use the best available research evidence to inform us how to best help active people meet their fitness, recovery, and performance goals.
Our staff will thoughtfully analyze your circumstances and injury and customize a realistic rehab plan for you that meets your goals. Treatment may include manual therapy and precise exercises that address:
  • Strength
  • Endurance
  • Flexibility
  • Motor Control
Motor control is about how your muscles work together.
A good example of this is an orchestra with individual instrument players, where each individual player represents a muscle. It is important for each player to play their part well (e.g. strength, endurance, flexibility) and to play together well (e.g. motor control) for the sound of the orchestra to be good.
